In very still conditions I hit a nice smooth 8 iron, which was pretty much straight at the flag all the way. It pitched slightly behind the hole, and seemed to bobble, but it wasn't clear where it had gone. There was an extra white patch by the base of the flag so I assumed it had stopped just behind the hole. When I got up to the green I realised it had pitched about 18 inches behind the hole, and spun back to wedge itself between the flag stick and the side of the hole, with half of the ball below the surface of the green! Lots of hand slapping and picture taking commenced with my playing partners!
